More WLAN/ 3G integration
According to this: Europemedia.net: News - Comptel and Sonera sign WLAN deal, both Sonera (now Telia-Sonera) and Telenor Mobil, are both working with partners to integrate mediation and accounting accross 3G and WLAN networks. They seem to have 'gotten' it, and realize that WLAN is inescapable as a wireless networking technology, and will compete significantly with 3G services, in many areas. The logical move: Own the WLAN market, integrate it with 3G, provide real roaming, and provide the best possible coverage in any given spot.
Of course I'd rather have free WLAN access, than have to pay for it, but given a reasonable price, many users will probably prefer the (imagined?) security and support of a managed network, to the slight chaos and inconveinience of a community network.
Let's make sure we all have a choice though...
