happiness
Blog.org: Best of blog.org Archives
blog.org has a comment on happiness, and our search for it, which reminded me of my recent contact with Happiness Foundation. Happiness foundation is quite an ambitious NGO project with the general goal to promote happiness in the world. It has roots in Denmark (one of it's founders is here in Copenhagen), which is how I bumped into it in the first place.
I'll reserve judgement on it until they have a chance to do a few projects, but the ideals are nice at the very least.
And since I'm currently reading Dalai Lama's newest book, I can't help having my Buddhist trigger tripped whenever I read about the search for happiness. It seems to be a central theme in Dlai Lama's book, as well as in other Buddhist related litterature, and, at least, partially makes the claim that happiness is internal, and due more to a state of mind than to any external circumstances.
That doesn't mean you sitruation and external circumstances aren'øt important, but the focus is clearly on a state of mind, as well as on the way you treat your relationships with other people.
